The makings of the great British sandwich. I love fresh bread, but living on my own I can never get through a loaf before it is stale, so I now make a loaf of sandwiches and then freeze them. I can take one out from the freezer in the morning if i am working and it is ready by lunch time. Perfect. Fresh bread every day!

This is the slice of cake I didn't eat. I called in to see a friend after work today and she had saved 2 slices of cake for me, but I only ate one. Aren't I good!! Thanks, Jeanette.

I'm trying to ward off the effects of the 'credit crunch' so have been looking around for ways of cutting costs on everyday items. By buying 'own brands' over my usual brands on these two items I have saved over £3. Not a lot, but every penny counts.

I came home from work with a terrible headache today, so took a couple of these and went to bed for an hour. Feel much better now.

Tuesday 24th February 09

Shrove Tuesday today, so it has to be pancakes. I went round my local shops yesterday to buy the ingredients. I live on my own and don't do baking anymore so don't keep a supply of flour or eggs. I thought I might buy one of those packets of mix, but you still need to buy eggs, and I don't eat eggs and would have had to buy six, so I went into Sainsbury's and got these ready- made ones. You can just heat them in the microwave, but I think I will still put them in a pan so I can do a little bit of tossing!

I've felt really rotten today and stayed in bed until this afternoon, so really I should be posting a piccie of my un-made bed, but I'm no Tracey Emin. Instead, here is what I had for my tea. I know I said yesterday that I was on a healthy eating diet but I just felt like fish and chips today. In my defence, it is oven-baked breaded fish and low fat oven chips.

I'm on a healthy eating programme at the moment so plenty of fruit is on the menu.

I love the way the seeds radiate from the centre of the kiwi, and the gradual changes of colour.

I have been scrapping all day today at a crop so my photo is of one of the layouts I completed. I've done it for Shimelle's Scrap Like You Mean It challenge which was to cut up a photo. I thought I might give this challenge a miss as don't like the idea of chopping into my photos, but I'm actually quite pleased with the result. I might try it again.

It's been a glorious day today, warmish and sunny, so I decided to tidy the garden up a bit. I went to Haskins to see what I could fill a few bare patches with and they had these lovley, bright coloured primroses for sale at £5.99 for a tray of 15 plants, plus another tray free. Thirty plants for less than a bunch of flowers!

I took this photo last night when I took my little house guest for a walk. I'd already upoaded my photo for yesterday and forgot it was on my camera until I upoaded today's photo to the PC. It was about 5.30pm and as I looked through the trees I thought the sky was on fire!

I've bought myself a new cardigan. Anyone who knows me know that I have a passion for buttons, so when I saw the buttons on this cardi my willpower was gone. I had to have it!

I went to my crop club today and Ann had made the most delightful cup cakes for us. They tasted just as good as they looked, too. Thanks Ann, I know we all loved them.

This is Charlie, my sister's 2 1/2 year old Cocker Spaniel. I took this photo yesterday, but didn't use it, and it's too good to waste! He's a lovely dog, and very well trained. He sat like this for ages when he would rather have been playing with his toy until I got a shot I was pleased with.

I popped over to see my sister this morning before I went to work as it is her 60th birthday. I'm 19 months younger than her. When did we get so old? Happy birthday Jacqueline.

I needed a new jar of face cream today. I couldn't afford the one I usually buy so bought this one which was on offer. It promises amazing results in just 14 days. All of my deep wrinkles will be completely smoothed out and you will see a new, younger looking me. Now if only they did one that could get rid of a double chin!

No work today so Sarah came over with Harry and Sophie this afternoon. We spent the afternoon reading boooks, doing puzzles and playing with the doll's house. Just my kind of lazy afternoon!
